ABOUT PROJECT

Furnishing a wine cellar with distressed oak furniture and interior doors

DISTRESSED OAK

Wood distressing or texturing is a technology adjusting the surface of wood, where the soft wood fibres are brushed away. Such an adjusted surface looks old and aged, as if left from the ages of our grandma: distressing gives it a patina look of an old object, which has been used for years. The texture is highlighted and more plastic, the yearly structure becomes more prominent. The texture is mechanically or chemically disrupted, so that the differences between summer and winter wood and its density become more visible.
